Maryland call no-fault Personal Injury Protection [PIP]
Transcript
In Maryland, we call no-fault insurance PIP or personal injury protection. This is first-party insurance coverage. First party, meaning it’s your insurance, it’s on your vehicle, you pay for it. It’s available to pay for your medical expenses and your lost wages up to the policy limits. Now in Maryland, the typical policy limit for PIP is 2,500 dollars unless you purchase more, and as indicated, it’s no-fault. If there’s an automobile accident and you’re hurt, or you’ve lost wages, you’re entitled to collect those benefits, irrespective of whether or not it’s somebody else’s fault or your fault.
