What Is Permanent Disability?

Attorney Eric T. Kirk will tell you.

Maryland recognizes partial and total permanent disability.

Transcript

There are two types of permanent disability recognized under Maryland law. There’s permanent partial disability, and there’s permanent and total disability. Dealing with the second one first, permanent and total disability is akin to Social Security Disability where an individual is injured to an extent that there is essentially no job in the national economy that they could do and they’re unable to return to work. Permanent partial disability is the loss of use or the loss of function of one or more body parts so that the individual has a permanent impairment to that part of their body. Maryland law recognizes monetary compensation for that loss of use.

I hope this addressed your question. Over the course of 25 years, I’ve found that fully addressing a legal question is best handled in a one-on-one, in person strategy and case analysis conference. I offer these to potential clients on a complimentary basis. Please use any of the methods under the contact tab at the top of the page to arrange yours.
