How to I get an Expungement in Maryland?
The process of obtaining an expungement is relatively simple. The appropriate forms are filed with the Clerk in the court where your matter was decided or heard. Copies are sent to the State. The paperwork is processed. As Attorney Eric T. Kirk will tell you.
The process if straightforward.
A petition, and, if required, a civil claims waiver, is filed with the clerk. 60 – 90 days later, an order is entered expunging police and court records of any mention of the charge. Maryland has recently greatly expanded the convictions for which an expungement may be obtained. Details can be found here.
